We visited a pastoral community in Narok, Kenya; to assess their WASH situation. The community lives in manyatta where they share compound with their animals. It was noticed that despite there being close to 50 families at the manyatta, they lacked basic sanitation facilities such as latrines, waste pits, dish drying racks etc and water borne diseases are still a major problem.
We've started talks to partner with a local organization to set up a community Health Promotion program to sensitize the community on the importance of Healthy WASH behaviours. We will train and support volunteer community members to be WASH Champions to educate and challenge others within the community to practice healthy WASH.
