INNOFOOD is an innovative initiative under NICHE’s INNOCAP initiative aimed at improving R&D and innovation management practices at two Higher Education Institutions: The Ho Technical University (HTU) in Ghana and the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya.
Last week, October 12 and 13, the InnoJam took place in at Ho Technical University in Ho (Volta Region) Ghana. Five teams of students and lecturers worked together to come up with (R&D) solutions for the companies' food processing issues. We will develop these further into market driven research trajectories with groups of students and faculty of the university. This will result in longer shelf life and better nutritional values of the food products in the Volta Region.

Throughout the process, INNOFOOD will provide hands-on support to HTU and JKUAT, from conceptualizing possible innovative solutions to address the business challenges, to translating them into research projects and mobilizing resources to finance them.
The next step will be a proposal writing training, to execute the research and develop solutions for the companies.
